The Puerto Vallarta region is actually several destinations in one, each with its own character and charm. The Cuale River divides the city into north and south. At the southern end is the picturesque Zona Romantica, where Playa Los Muertos attracts sun lovers to the golden sand and its numerous beach bars.

Further south are the coastal towns of Boca de Tomatlán and Mismaloya. North of the river, Ciudad Antigua meanders uphill to Gringo Gulch, along the bay, where you will find the Plaza de Armas (main square) and the Los Arcos amphitheater, where free daily shows draw crowds.
